Radiology (X-rays)

Radiology is a branch of medicine that uses imaging technology to diagnose and treat disease. It involves the use of electromagnetic radiation to produce a visual image on a surface such as a photographic plate. It is one of the most common and useful diagnostic tools used in veterinary medicine. Like a digital camera, Chartwell Vet Clinic uses advanced imaging technology to transfer the image directly to computers within minutes.

Providing a non-invasive “picture” of your pet’s internal structures, it is able to help Veterinarians get a better idea of your pet’s condition and often reach a diagnosis.

In order to obtain clear and accurate images, our patients must be very still during the x-rays. For some patients, it may be necessary for us to sedate your pet prior to taking x-rays. This will help to ease your pet during the x-rays if they are uncomfortable or anxious. It also ensures that the process is safe for everyone involved and gets the job done faster. After the x-rays are taken and developed, one of our veterinarians will show you the “picture” and discuss their findings with you.

If you have any questions or believe your pet may need x-rays, please contact us for more information.
